1. Boring but necessary context on UWC (skip this if you already know) The United World College movement comprises a set of 18 international schools across the world that were founded to bring students from different backgrounds together and help them understand one another. The mission of the school, which is repeated often and with a somewhat propagandistic character at the Colleges, is to make “education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.” (Unfortunately, it also says this on the back of my shirt right now. This is why I have worn a backpack in public all day.)
